Essay 1 Option 1: Write about an incident or set of incidents in your life that had the most profound influence on you. While writing this essay briefly mention the incident and the impact it has had on your life. (300 words max)
Essay 1 Option 2: How would you describe yourself as a person and what are the two qualities / skills / attributes that you wish to further develop in yourself through the ISB Young Leaders Programme? (300 words max)
Essay 1 Option 1 Tips. This question has three main parts: what was the incident? what impact did it have on you? and why such an impact? Address all parts clearly and concisely.
Think about your most important accomplishment or perhaps your failure that have taught you invaluable lessons or maybe set of experience that forced you to think differently, changed your perspective and thus had profound impact on you. You could chose from academic, professional or personal experiences. Whatever you choose to talk about, make sure it is a significant moment, perhaps a turning point in your life.
Start by giving the context and if applicable any challenges associated with the situation. Show your thought process throughout the experience. Take the reader with you in your mental and emotional journey. Giving specific concrete details to your story will make your narrative vivid and memorable.
Essay 1 Option 2 Tips. The question requires serious introspection and looking at yourself honestly. Think about your strengths and areas of improvements. Then think about what opportunities and resources at ISB will help you develop yourself.
When you are speaking about ISB, use this chance to demonstrate your understanding of the program. If you have done any specific research about the school, if you have spoken to any alumni- include all that to show you clearly understand how the program will help you. Make it genuine, authentic and specific.
Good luck!
